Tetrachromacy – Seeing Color

Not everyone sees color in the same way. Did you ever wonder what life would be like to see over 100 million colors? Tetrachromacy is a rare genetic condition that allows a person to see 100 million colors, compared to someone with normal vision who typically can see around one million colors. Tetrachromacy gives a person super vision, allowing them to see a range of colors where shadows fall or a variation of colors in an object that is monochromatic. This rare disorder only affects one percent of human beings but is not uncommon in some species of animals. Researchers are studying the disorder more closely to see if in the future color perception in humans can somehow be trained.
